Postdoctoral Researcher

A postdoctoral position is open immediately to work in the Departments of Dermatology and Immunology of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. The position is funded by NIH grants in the field of neurogenic inflammation and and cell to cell communication in skin chronic inflammatory disorders (i.e.: contact dermatitis) 

Specifically, the project studies the role of proinflammatory neuropeptides in the immune function of keratinocytes and will elucidate how keratinocytes communicate their pro-inflammatory state with other skin cells via extracellular vesicles to initiate and amplify skin initiated  innate and adaptive immune responses.

The project involves in vitro and in vivo work and utilizes state of the art technology to elucidate the mechanisms underlying skin chronic inflammation. Examples of the type of work involved can be found at the following publications from our group

A qualified applicant should hold a PhD, be highly enthusiastic about science in immunology and cell biology and have knowledge in basic immune mechanisms and techniques, including flow cytometry, Western Blot, qRT-PCR and multiplex assays. Experience in imaging, genomics and proteomics, would be optimal but not exclusive.
